I published a book!

Reader,

I don't normally write about this because it's not "business" focused - but I have some exciting news!

Last week, I was spring cleaning and happened across a box of my old belongings and curious, I opened the lid. I found (amongst the many trinkets) a collection of art projects, my old community college ID card, old wedding cards, and a creative writing story from an 11 year old me.

Finding that old piece of paper, folded and wrinkled, weathered across several decades, I smiled.

11 year old me - the one that wore bugs bunny glasses, preferred the company of books to people, and wore a very tight, very long braid every day of school - would be proud.

Today marks the day that I tick "published a book" off my bucket list.

I started this journey about a year ago reading and making up stories for my son who's now 12 during bed time.

I wanted a story that I could create - filled with adventure, mystery, and friendships for our family, and I'm excited to share that story with you, your family, library or school.

It's not a business book, but I think it's a big enough accomplishment that I wanted to share it with you.

Time Weaver's And The Hidden Blueprint is available in paperback and hardcover in the US and Canada and ebook available everywhere!

If you're interested in writing a fiction book, I'm recording a quick video about my writing journey on my Youtube channel and reply back with your questions so I can answer them.

One of the main reasons I decided to work on a fiction book was because I wanted to understand the self-publishing process more before diving into publishing a business-related books.

With that under my belt, I'm excited to tackle new writing opportunities.

If you'd like to check out more on my writing projects and about the book, check out my imprint - Luminary Inkworks.

A Quick Blurb about the book:

Time Weavers: The Hidden Blueprint is a fast-paced middle-grade adventure about Lukas Fillamore—a kid just trying to survive middle school, mysterious time glitches, and a grumpy grandma with an excellent apple turnover recipe. One heroic dog rescue later, Lukas finds himself tangled in a world of temporal anomalies, ancient secrets, and a mysterious professor. No pressure or anything… it’s just the fate of time itself at stake.

From the Desk of Melody Johnson Reader, So yesterday, I volunteered to provide breakfast as part of my PTO responsibilities and I totally FAILED and accidentally lied. You see, I was offering bagels, donuts, a juice and a few kids and adults asked what was the brown creamy stuff was to top off their meal. "It's peanut butter, of course!" - I said as I let kids and parents place the creamy goodness on their bagels. 🤦♀️ And this is where I accidentally LIED. Turns out, that creamy goodness was...

From the Desk of Melody Johnson Hey Reader, It's spring time and I've been loading up on goodies for my kids. Two things come to mind when I do this: 1) Are my kids going to go sugar / stir crazy with all this candy? 2) Am I contributing to a magical experience for their memories as an adult? Also I am wondering if my husband will find all the chocolate I've hidden because he definitely grabs tons when I'm not careful (candy thief!). I took this picture of an easter basket my hubby got me a...

From the Desk of Melody Johnson Hey Reader, If there's one thing I've learned while balancing my life and business is that - there is a TON of noise about what it takes to grow an online business. One person says you have to post daily on social media. Someone else swears by funnels. Another by reels. Another by paid ads. And another by SEO. By the way, be sure you’ve hopped on threads, Bluesky, or the latest social media platform! Oh, and don't forget about scaling your team and make sure to...
